Just as obesity is epidemic in our human population, so to it is in our pet population. Reasons? Well, those are many and varied, but as in humans, most cases come down to diet and exercise!

While the holidays are wonderful times for all, hazards do exist for our pets.

I was privileged to be able to join the summer research team of veterinarians traveling to Botswana and the Northern Tuli Game Reserve. The purpose of the study is to track the male cats of large species, Lion, Leopard and Cheetah, as they establish territory and roam the 72,000 acre reserve. 

Many of us travel with our pets and some potential problems come with this. So here’s some tips, warnings and do’s and don’ts.

It’s nearly that time again! On Sunday, May 16, 2010, Francesca Lanfranchi will be hosting the 5th Annual Strut for Mutts at Estell Manor Park.

Each month in this column we will run a pet story about YOUR pet!

Over the years as I have helped many pets back to health through alternative and nutritional medicine, a common question I get is, “Hey Doc, you helped my pet, do you know of a human doctor who can do the same for me?”

Beacon Animal Rescue, a No-Kill Shelter and Adoption Center located in Upper Township, NJ, is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing domestic animals that are about to be euthanized in shelters, giving them the love and medical care they need, and finding their forever homes.
