As the title of my new CD “Save Yourself” indicates, it’s about self-preservation. It’s something we all must consider, but most of all women! As a woman, I write about experiences we all share. I believe all things are possible and we should never give up in the face of adversity. My songwriting is therapy for me and for others too, hopefully.
I come from a musical family. My father was a singer and jazz guitar player. My mom acted, sang and loved to dance. My brother Joe plays piano and sings as well. They were my teachers, exposing me to all kinds of great music. From Broadway to Rock, Jazz, R&B, Country and Classical, I love it all. I wrote and recorded my own songs before I sang professionally. Growing up, my mother inspired me dream big and work hard. Since her passing in 2002, her optimism and wisdom have continued to motivate me forward in all my endeavors.
Recently my family and I moved to Shamong, New Jersey where we opened HumanRecordz Recording Studios. Standing on several acres of green pastures and a horse farm, it is a studio built not only for incredible sound, but also as an inviting inspiring space to record music. Fortunately, we’ve attracted artists who love their art and are trying to help make the world a better place through their music. In fact, most have been women with truly unbelievable stories. During my concert at The Shell I will share a few of those stories with you. By doing so, I hope to encourage you to believe in YOUR dreams.
