When Terri approached her sister Lori about fulfilling a life long dream, they set the wheels in motion and one year later opened in November 2008.
Long before they opened their doors, the search for unique gifts and home décor began. They are committed to offering one-of-a-kind and handcrafted gifts by local and national artists not seen in mainstream gift shops. Their search yielded a wide array of pottery, jewelry, glass and metal art, baby gifts (including diaper cakes, onesie cupcakes, handmade piggy banks and going to grandma suitcases), handbags, scarves and much more in all price points. Some of the artists include Jonathan’s spoons as seen on the Rachel Ray show, handmade stainless steel handbags by Bo’s Art Studio in California, hand-blown perfume bottles by Seth’s Glass Studio, jewelry by Classic Hardware and Elaine Coyne, and handmade picture frames by Artfully Done.
The Golden Feather is a place where you can find a gift for yourself or loved one that is truly something special. A gift that won’t soon be forgotten. The shop also offers custom gift baskets and complimentary gift wrap.
In order to create a unique shopping experience, they designed the shop with a homelike atmosphere that includes a sitting area and cozy fireplace. Customers of all ages are encouraged to browse amongst the various merchandise displays, one even being an antique church pew. Customers have been known to ooh and aah upon entering the store as they take in the sight of sparkling crystal chandeliers and stately wooden columns. The Golden Feather is definitely a must-see shopping destination.
Owners, The Golden FeaTerri and Lori began their careers at the age of 12 on the family farm. By packing blueberries they earned money to shop for school clothes in the “giant” Sears catalog. After attending Brandywine College in Delaware they both found their way into the banking industry, but not for long. Thirty five years after packing that first crate of berries, the family farm called them to duty once again. They both currently work at Variety Farms, Inc. during the week and weekends are dedicated to The Golden Feather. Lori and Terri have resided in Hammonton their whole lives and enjoy the close knit community that their town represents.
