B.E.S.T. stands for BioEnergetic Synchronization Technique.B.E.S.T. is a physical, yet non-forceful chiropractic technique which is used to re-establish the full healing potential of the body.The technique was developed by chiropractor M.T. Morter, Jr. in the mid-1970’s.Dr. Morter is a past president of two chiropractic colleges, a noted lecturer, gifted author, researcher, clinician, and Founder of the Morter Health Systems in Rogers, Arkansas.According to Dr. Morter, interference in the body causes an imbalance in the autonomic nervous system (sympathetic and parasympathetic) and over time if this imbalance is not addressed, disease will occur.The B.E.S.T technique removes interference and/or distractions that are demanding the attention of the healing power of the body.
The procedure is based on scientific principles utilizing pressure points to effectively allow the patient’s body to update physiological function based on current need rather than past experience.By balancing the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, total body balance with lasting updated muscle memory patterns are possible.When the two systems are balanced, the musculature becomes balanced therefore vertebral subluxations are repositioned naturally and with virtually no force.This method of reducing subluxations is both painless and effective because the patient’s own muscles do the work.A subluxation (misalignment) is a problem in the spine where an abnormal position/movement of the vertebrae disturbs communication within the Central Nervous System causing a disturbance in the body.
Your body was designed to survive. It was not designed to be sick or healthy.The circumstances that you provide for your body determine your state of health or disease.In one of Dr. Morter’s books, An Apple a Day?Dr. Morter states, “We get sick when we push our bodies’ survival skills to extremes just to handle the consequences of our choices and actions.” (p. 105)Everything the body does is correct in order to survive the conditions and stimuli of the moment.(p. 106) “Pain has a purpose.Pain is the body’s alarm system, alerting you that there is something wrong.Pain alerts the body to start the healing process.”(What’s B.E.S.T. for You brochure).Pain also alerts you that the choices you have made were not in your body’s best interest and that those choices were a cause of stress to the body.Altering symptoms with drugs or surgery will not address the true cause of the interference.
You determine your health by the choices you make regarding the Six Essentials of Health.The Six Essentials of Health are: 1) What You Eat 2) What You Drink 3) How You Exercise 4) How You Rest 5) What You Breathe and 6) What You Think.The most important of the 6 Essential is what you think, it governs your life.Your thinking (mental stress) can change the way your body functions.Negative thoughts and attitudes excite strong physiological responses of defense (sympathetic nervous system activated). Negativity becomes a habit.“So if all day, everyday, you find fault with yourself and others, you keep your body in constant defense.” (p. 161 An Apple a Day).To change your life you must change the way you think.
The B.E.S.T. technique can help with this because the techniques updates physical and emotional memory patterns by recruiting a mind/body response.“The Advanced or Face-up procedure is designed to directly remove high brain interference from expression in the physical body.Developed to identify and then remove interference caused by stored emotional patterns, the procedure allows the patient to consciously focus on certain feelings that have been stored in the brain as memory engrams and subsequently allow the subconscious portions of the brain to update for current need rather than past experience.” (www.morter.com). Once the patient’s body is functioning based on current, updated need, rather than a series of past experiences, true healing can and will occur.
