
Why Become a Massage Therapist?
Working in the healing arts is one of the most rewarding professions one can specialize in, helping others as an adjunct to traditional medicine increases the recovery process as well as promoting overall health and wellness.
How long will I have to attend School?
When your choice is made to become a massage therapist, it’s very important to choose the right school for you. 500 hours of training is enough to begin with but as you integrate more experience in the field of massage, you will soon realize that 500 hours is just a beginning. There is truly a world to discover in massage and you may go so far in the knowledge you gain that you may become able to do “surgery with your hands”. This is how precise and powerful massage can be. You should have a solid grounding in anatomy and a basis in one technique that you wish to practice.
How large are the classes?
At Atlantic County Healing Arts Institute we focus on a small class setting – no more than 12 students per class. Individual one to one attention is very important. ACHAI is not a business school; we specialize in Massage Therapy and Massage Only.
How much money will I be able to make?
Massage Therapist on average make $60.00 to $70.00 per hour. Most therapists working in a destination spas setting make $1,000.00 per week, have a 401K and full medical benefit package.
Where do I find work?
Massage Therapists work in such settings as: Day Spa’s, Chiropractors Offices, Hospitals, Pain Management Clinics, Athletic Teams, Rehabilitation Facilities or are self employed.
How do I build a Clientele?
At Atlantic County Healing Arts Institute we have a specially designed program that will help you build a clientele in a safe environment: As a student you will practice a sequence on the clients during our Open Clinic sessions, you will than advance into our newly designed Treatment Center were you will develop a clientele from your open clinic clients in a private and safe environment. The staff at ACHAI is always present for you to answer questions or uncertainties you may have during a treatment session. This will prepare you for the real world as well as build your clientele.
What is the age group of the students?
Students at ACHAI range from 18 years old to 55 years old. It is never to early nor to late to start a career as a Massage Therapist.
How difficult is the education?
The program at ACHAI is at a 10th Grade Reading level- we will gently educate and train you. At this time in the State of NJ there is no Licensure Examination required. ACHAI has a 98% pass rate for the National Exam.
Do I have to be athletically strong to do Massage? NO
Students will learn the application of Body Mechanics – utilizing your own body weight as your strength and pressure. Performed the correct way Massage is like a Yoga or Dance- it is not strenuous or taxing on the body when performed correctly!
Is this a Gender Specific Career?
NO! Massage Therapists are both male and female. ACHAI has placed both male and female therapists in such facilities as the Spa at Bally’s, Toccare Spa / Bogotá, Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salon, Chiropractors, Doctors Offices, Pain Management Clinics, Cruise Ships and more!

Joceyln Bronstein is among one of the many successful graduates from the Massage Therapy Program at Atlantic County Healing Arts Institute. Her decision to go back to school has opened up many doors in her life. It wasn’t too long ago that Joceyln owned and operated a Club in Philadelphia which was hard on her health – working long hours and having more responsibility & stress than desired. She also has 15 years experience as a Licensed Physical Therapist Affiliate specializing in Pediatrics, Geriatrics, Rehabilitation and Aquatic Therapy. Also, Robin is a member of the New Jersey Organization of Women Business owners, ABMP, AMTA, INR and the N.J. Chamber of Commerce.
