According to The Mayo Clinic:
“Hypnotherapy has the potential to help relieve the symptoms of a wide variety of diseases and conditions. It can be used independently or along with other treatments. For example, it’s one of several relaxation methods for treating chronic pain that has been approved by an independent panel convened by the National Institutes of Health.
According to preliminary studies, hypnotherapy may be used to:
- Change negative behaviors, such as smoking, bed-wetting and overeating
- Reduce or eliminate fears, stress and anxiety
- Treat pain during childbirth and reduce labor time
- Control pain during dental and surgical procedures
- Relieve symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Lower blood pressure
- Control nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy
- Reduce the intensity or frequency of headaches, including migraines
- Treat and ease the symptoms of asthma
- Hasten the healing of some skin diseases, including warts, psoriasis and atopic dermatitis”
Pain Control:
Of course, chronic pain has become a common complaint of many people today. Back problems, car accidents, and work related injuries can leave a person in a situation where they have to manage chronic pain. It is important to understand that pain has both a physical and a mental component. Hypnosis works on the perception of pain, and can greatly reduce or even eliminate the discomfort of pain for some people. And unlike anti-pain drugs, no one ever becomes addicted to hypnosis.
Sports:
Are you an athlete who needs to improve your mental game and attitude? Golfers and runners, gymnasts and skaters, and many other kinds of athletes, face off against their own minds every time they engage in their sport. Your self-talk can work against you, telling you that you are too tired, too weak, or too far off your pace. But your self-talk can also work for you, empowering you with deep focus, freedom from distraction, and increased confidence and drive. For instance, a hypnotist can help an athlete visualize what they want to accomplish before they perform it physically, such as shooting baskets or hitting a golf ball.
Stage Performers:
Musicians and other stage performers also have to win the mental game in order to give their best performances for competitions, auditions, and in their professional careers. Freedom from unhelpful distraction is essential to be able to tune in to that inner channel that lets the music or the character flow out perfectly.
Sales Performance:
Having the focus, confidence and drive to perform at your personal best will reflect in your income, the ultimate reward for your sales excellence. Be proactive, and take your sales career to the next level.
Public Speaking:
Many jobs now require the ability to give talks and presentations. If you fear speaking to a group of people, the fear stops you from being as effective as you know you can be. Hypnosis can help you to release that fear, maintain focus, say exactly what you mean to say, and give your best presentation ever.
Exam Stress:
Some people are naturally great students, but struggle with taking exams. Hypnosis can take out the fear, and put back the focus it takes to be as good as you really are on exam day.
Pre-Surgery Hypnosis:
Doctors at Yale University’s medical school have reported that hypnosis can soothe anxiety before surgery, and decrease post-operative pain, which is closely associated with pre-surgery jitters. Several studies on hypnosis for pre and post-operative patients are now underway to explore this exciting benefit .
There are still many other uses for hypnosis, and too little space here to tell you about them all. Yet, whatever purpose you have for seeking hypnosis, you will receive the same respectful, caring approach, and a program tailored to your personal situation. To help a person through these transformations is more fun than I can tell you, and it is my distinct pleasure to be your hypnotist.
