Jeanette Giemza, the owner of Preferred Travel is no stranger to the travel industry. It all started at the early age of 17 when she spent the summer in England with her great-aunt, a retired Superintendent of Schools in Colchester, Essex County. She toured the British countryside and traveled to France. She knew then “ I was hooked on travel!” Shortly after her return she joined an International Charter Airline as a flight attendant and had an opportunity to travel to all corners of the world - many times stopping for tea with her Aunt Hattie when she was in England. As her Great Aunt would say “my dear the Atlantic Ocean has become a lake for you”’.

After her career with the airline - it was a natural to go immediately into the travel agency arena. The thrill of experiencing a place you have never been before and the thrill of being able to help others share the same experience was exactly what I wanted to do with my life. Preferred Travel became a reality in 1980 and continues to accomplish her endeavor. In the same year she also completed her accreditation for Certified Travel Consultant and became a member of ASTA - The American Society of Travel Agents, CLIA - Cruise Lines International Association and ARC - Airline Reporting Corporation. In the course of the years to follow she has obtained numerous awards of achievement and certifications.

Jeanette is also kept busy assisting her husband, John with marketing ideas for his business, Circle Liquor Store, in Somers Point. They have started a local wine education course for women - Grape Expectations - which has been met with great interest. The club meets several times a year and has had internationally acclaimed wine speakers from various wine regions of the world give presentations to promote a greater understanding of wine as well as food pairings - Preferred Travel is currently in the process of formulating tours to visit popular wine destinations - "what better way to learn of a wine then to actually visit the region and see the vineyards - watch the wine process unfold from the grape to the bottling and partake of the food and ambience!!!.

A well known expression of - "if you want something done give it to the busiest person you know," fits the life style that Jeanette and John lead - besides running 2 demanding businesses and taking time for as much travel as their schedule will permit they also find time for charity. One of their "pet " charities is helping the animals. They are the proud owners of 2 adopted dogs from rescue organizations. They are active with many humane societies as well  tours to keep informed of the new hotel properties and cruise ships that are entering the market as well as the new “in” destinations. In addition to the new products it is important to keep abreast of what is happening to the older established resorts and cruises. Another very demanding aspect of the job is to assure that the clients have been given their best options for flights with the myriad of airline companies and airfares in existence today.

Surely, dealing with the airlines is not what it used to be!!! Because of their hard work and conscientious service they have been awarded the “Best of the Atlantic City Press” for the last 5 years.
